Do you remember GUACAMOLE, the Guiding and Acquisition system for the two Nasmyth foci of the Gran Telescopio CANARIAS (GTC)?
Well, GUACAMOLE has now arrived at the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos (in Garafía, la Palma) and has just been tested for its acceptance. It has been installed by engineers from the manufacturing company "Advanced Mechanical and Optical Systems" (AMOS, S.A.) of Liège in Belgium, and from GRANTECAN, the State Spanish business managing the construction of the GTC.
To refresh your memory, GUACAMOLE is the name of the Acquisition, Guiding and Calibration system for the GTC, which will be used to track stars during observations.
You can see how the A&G camera of the Nasmyth A focus works in the video we have prepared.
